Art31 Jason Hackenwerth Artist Talk at Rollins College
March 10, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Internationally acclaimed installation artist Jason Hackenwerth speaks about his creative process, inspiration, and artistic journey during his artist’s talk at Rollins College. Guests also see Hackenwerth’s Wearables firsthand during the talk in a pop up mini-exhibition. This special presentation is free to the public and made possible through a partnership with Art & History Museums – Maitland and the Cornell Fine Arts Museum.
Recognized by museums, galleries, and the arts media for his sculptural latex balloon installations across the world, Jason Hackenwerth will transform Gallery 3 of the A&H’s Maitland Art Center with his organic and biological forms utilizing hundreds of balloons. His “It Tasted Like Lead” installation is part of Material World: Glass, Rubber & Paper, where Hackenwerth’s latex sculptures provide a vivid juxtaposition with Chihuly’s glass works. In addition to his gallery installation at the A&H’s Maitland Art Center, Hackenwerth will also translate his work into wearable mobile sculptures. The Wearables will pop up in guerrilla style mini-exhibitions across Orange County throughout Art31.
Hackenwerth studied the Savannah College of Art and Design and Webster University, St. Louis, MO. He is a past recipient of a Pollack-Krasner grant and has received acclaim throughout the international art world for his work at Art Basel and many museums from New York to Edinburgh.
