Art31 Hackenwerth Wearables at OMA’s 1st Thursdays

Jason Hackenwerth’s sophisticated use of latex balloons to create massive installations is known internationally. Hackenwerth translates this work into mobile sculptures with his Wearables. The Wearables will pop up in guerrilla style mini-exhibitions across Orange County during Art31, with their debut at Orlando Museum of Art’s 1st Thursdays event. Be among the first to experience the lovely absurdity and inherent grace of Hackenwerth’s Wearables.

Featured Artist: Jason Hackenwerth, “It Tasted Like Lead” – Recognized by museums, galleries, and the arts media across the world for his sculptural latex balloon installations across the world, Jason Hackenwerth will transform Gallery 3 with his organic and biological forms utilizing hundreds of balloons. Hackenwerth studied the Savannah College of Art and Design and Webster University, St. Louis, MO. He is a past recipient of a Pollack-Krasner grant and has received acclaim throughout the international art world for his work at Art Basel and many museums from New York to Edinburgh. Hackenwerth’s latex sculptures provide a vivid juxtaposition with Chihuly’s glass works. In addition to his gallery installation at the A&H’s Maitland Art Center, Hackenwerth will also translate his work into wearable mobile sculptures. The Wearables will pop up in guerrilla style mini-exhibitions across Orange County throughout Art31.
